Pastor Rev. Sim Walton

Rev. Sim Walton was born on July 15, 1915 in Grand Cain, LA. Sim was the youngest of six children born to Sim Sr. and Lucy Walton.

When quite a young man, he professed Christ as his personal Savior. Christianity and the work of the Lord, not becoming prevalent in his life, he confessed his call to the Ministry and was subsequently license and ordained at the St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Johnson in 1946.

The years 1953 - 1960 Rev. Walton pastored the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Sacramento, CA.

In 1960, under the leadership of the Holy spirit, Pastor Walton organized Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Sacramento, CA. where he pastored for 27 years.

On February 10, 1937, Rev. Walton was united in marriage to Mable Walton. To this union five children were born. This union continued until her death on March 18, 1970. On March, 1976, Rev. Walton was united in marriage to Mary L. Walton of Sacramento, CA.

Pastor Walton was a lovable and humble character, but he has gone to his reward. On October 13, 1987 at 10:20 a.m., on the streets of downtown Sacramento, Pastor Walton was called home by the Master, who said "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." God's will must be done, and Pastor Walton has left a living example of loving service, worthy of emulation, which tribute should bear some comfort to his loving family and friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing a loving wife, Mary L. Walton, two sons, Welford B. and Sim Walton, III, three daughters, Dyiane Thompson, Ruthie Jean Walton of Sacramento, and Eliza Jean Nelson of Oakland, CA, 28 grand-children, 18 great-grand children, ,3 God-children and a host of relatives and friends

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens." II Corinthians 5:1

Words can't express how much I thank God for the privilege of sitting and studying under such a man as the late Rev. Sim Walton. He was instrumental in
the saving of thousands of souls and has touched countless thousands of lives. He was a 6' 8" powerful, Spirit filled preacher with a gentle touch. The Mt. Calvary family is thankful to the Lord for using Rev. Walton to organize this Church. We loved him but we know that he is rejoicing in the presence of Jesus.

"Pop, I miss you and will never forget all that you have done for me."
Sincerely,

Rev. Bryant C. Wyatt, Pastor
and your Grandson
